Mental Health First Aid

This internationally recognised two-day crisis response course is the mental health equivalent of standard First Aid and will equip participants with the skills to recognise and respond appropriately, until professional help arrives.

Coaching Skills

Unlike teaching, mentoring or counselling, a coach’s role is to help another find solutions, improve skills and expand their competence. This course looks at how to become a great workplace coach and provide others with support that can fuel incremental improvement.

De-escalating Conflict and Aggression

How we respond to a potential crisis can make the difference between smooth resolution and an emergency situation. This introductory course provides tools and techniques for participants to respond appropriately to threatening, violent or aggressive behaviour.

Prevent Abuse and Neglect

We all know that prevention is better than cure, but too often our responses to situations of abuse and neglect are left until after harm has been caused. While not every situation can be predicted, this insightful course explores ways that professionals, support workers and family members can take steps to prevent abusive situations before they occur.

Systemic Advocacy

Advocacy means speaking out on behalf of someone’s rights or best interests, especially if they are disadvantaged. It is a communication-driven form of change-making, which can be applied to diverse human rights, social justice, legal reform, equity and environmental causes.

Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid

This specialist two-day crisis response course is the mental health equivalent of standard First Aid, in an Aboriginal context. Led by a skilled Aboriginal trainer this course is ideal for anyone working with Aboriginal communities.

Dual Disability (Disability + Mental Health)

Like any of us, people with disabilities experience mental health disorders. Yet, identifying and responding appropriately to mental health issues can often be complex when the person also has other disabilities.

Sensory Wellbeing Tools

Grounding techniques are sensory experiences which ground or “anchor” us in the present and help us manage emotions and maintain wellbeing. Creating sensations that say "there is no emergency" helps calm the body’s alert system so the brain (prefrontal cortex) can regain its ability to think.

Advanced De-escalation Skills

Following on from our introductory De-escalating Conflict and Aggression, this course further develops skills in preventing violence and responding to aggression, covering more specialised situations and behaviours that any of us could encounter in the community.
